Our methodology · cv-decision-v1.0
CollegeVision's fit index compares your preferences with reviewed programme information. It makes the tradeoffs visible so you can decide what to investigate next.
Each candidate needs official sources, a review date and an expiry date. Before including a programme in the reviewed catalogue, we require a match between the institution, exact programme, admission session and online delivery mode in the official UGC-DEB evidence. We also check your recorded qualification and marks, total budget, monthly fee equivalent and available weekly study time.
Missing, expired or conflicting evidence keeps a programme out of the ranked results. Evidence reviewed more than 90 days ago is excluded even if its expiry date has not passed. This is our review policy. A recent check of an institution's name does not establish the status of every programme it offers.
Check the official programme recordFor programmes that pass the evidence and practical checks, we combine three scores on a scale of 0 to 100. These are provisional decision weights; they have not been validated against student outcomes.

The recorded total fee must fit your budget. Its monthly equivalent (fee divided by course duration) must fit your monthly limit. The average unused share of these two limits determines the headroom score.
25%
The documented weekly workload must fit the time you can commit. A workload at your time limit scores 50; more room in your schedule raises this score.
Fit index = 0.40 × specialization score + 0.35 × affordability score + 0.25 × learning-time score
Affordability score = 50 + 50 × average of the unused share of your total budget and your monthly limit. Monthly equivalent = recorded total fee ÷ course duration in months.
Learning-time score = 50 + 50 × (1 − required weekly hours ÷ your available weekly hours).
Dimension scores and the final index are rounded to one decimal place. Ties use the lower total fee, then a stable programme identifier.
The same inputs, catalogue version and assessment date produce the same result. Evidence freshness is checked on the assessment date in India. Any disclosed commercial relationship must be shown separately and must not influence these scores.
A score of 80 describes a fit to the inputs you supplied. It does not mean an 80% chance of admission, promotion, employment or a salary increase. The index does not measure teaching quality, employer preference or placement performance.
The report should show the inputs and tradeoffs behind the score. Review your circumstances, read the source evidence and confirm admission terms with the university before committing.
Total cost must include mandatory charges such as registration and examination fees. Fee divided by duration illustrates an average monthly cost; it does not establish when payments are due. Confirm the actual instalment schedule and any upfront payment with the university. Loan EMI depends on the lender's terms and approval.
The financial scenario adds your assumed delay to the months needed to recover entered education cost plus calculated loan interest from assumed additional monthly income. The increase is your assumption, not a placement average or a forecast. Zero or negative additional income, or zero investment, produces no meaningful break-even result. Taxes, inflation, lost earnings and charges you have not entered are excluded.
CollegeVision is an independent comparison service. The university sets its admission terms, awards the degree and confirms your eligibility. An assessment does not submit an application or authorize a university to contact you. Contact handoff requires a separate choice naming the recipient and the purpose.
