Use the exact degree-awarding university name. A brand name, counselling company or learning platform can differ from the awarding institution.
Official-source check guide
Use UGC's Distance Education Bureau records to investigate the exact degree you plan to join. Keep the institution, programme, admission session and delivery mode together throughout your check.
01
Use the exact degree-awarding university name. A brand name, counselling company or learning platform can differ from the awarding institution.
02
Match the official programme title and any named variant. Finding the university or a different degree does not complete this check.
03
Check the admission session you plan to join. Read the recognition or entitlement period and any associated notice; do not carry a previous session's status forward.
04
Match Online / OL for an online degree. Open and Distance Learning / ODL is a separate mode and its entry cannot be used as evidence for online delivery.
Retry through the official DEB homepage and its latest notices. A failed lookup is inconclusive. Keep the check pending; do not treat a search snippet, an accreditation logo or a university's marketing claim as a substitute for the exact record.
UGC-DEB advises students to check the session they intend to join and explains that a previous year's recognition does not establish the next session's status. Its official guidance also addresses prohibited programmes and franchise arrangements.
